About Us

Is there a sport out there you’d love to try but find it too expensive to get the gear? Have you just bought a new item of equipment but need a marketplace to sell the old kit where buyers understand the true value? These are just a few reasons why we created RigBag, the new online marketplace for action sports enthusiasts.

We all have at least one item (but usually cupboards full) of sporting equipment or clothing that we never use – RigBag now offers an easy way to for you to buy and sell gear. Have a rummage through your wardrobes, garage, and under the bed and join RigBag to start trading.

RigBag has a growing list of brands and individuals buying and selling new and used products. The more active RigBag members we have the more options you have to trade and recycle and your equipment amongst the action sports community.

History

RigBag was founded in 2012 by Randall Wharton in Kerry, Ireland. Since then a dedicated team has joined RigBag in both Ireland and the UK.

Culture

We don’t just enjoy sports we eat, drink, and sleep sports! Sports and fitness is a lifestyle which is why you’ll find our team running or cycling to work, popping out for lunchtime yoga, and heading to the pool at the end of the day. We believe it’s important to have every opportunity to be at your best, which is why with RigBag you can offset the cost of upgrading your kit by selling your old stuff all in one place.

Meet the Team

Founder and CEO

Randall Wharton

Runner, Ultrarunner, and occasional triathlete. The only man we know to run a full marathon with a dislocated hip, Randall is the man behind the concept.Starting as just an idea one triathlon training session RigBag came to life soon after. Relying on his trusty Garmin 310xt Randall constantly pushes his own boundaries, striving for more miles and more adventure.

Goal for 2015: Completing 15 Marathons / Ultramarathons.

Chairman

Stephen Barter

An experienced businessman, Stephen brings a determination to succeed to whatever he sets his sights upon (although a recent paddle boarding trip begs to differ). A sporting all-rounder Stephen doesn’t have just one focus but tries anything once – it could just lead to wakeboarding champion.

Superhero power: Ability to run like The Flash.

Director

Adrian Stratta

After 17 years in the Parachute Regiment of the British Army our CEO Adrian is a real life Action Man. Relying on perseverance and strength, no challenge - land, air, or sea - is beyond his reach. Citing driving across the Sahara using a GPS for the first time as motivation in the office, no problem is without a solution.

Superhero power: To run and possess body flow with power and grace.

Sales and Marketing Director

Paul Narraway

With years of experience behind him and a passion for all things sailing Paul is more than our sales and marketing man. A Wolverhampton Wanderers and Harlequins fan Paul has recently turned his legs to cycling spending his weekends with his “beautiful” Bianchi road bike.

Goal for 2015: Compete in the Fastnet Race 2015.

Sales Manager

Barry Quinn

Ruggedly handsome and full of good humour, no one quite knows what BazDog (his nickname, not ours) does but he does it well. Ex-Gaelic footballer Barry believes he’s too old for running around and now sticks to golf.

Goal for 2015: Run a half marathon.
